The Discount Hub is a family-run UK discount retail business selling a wide range of clearance and end-of-line products. They were active across eBay, Whatnot, and Vinted — but had no home base of their own. We built them one.

The Brief

The family had built a loyal following through live selling on Whatnot and regular eBay listings, but everything lived on platforms they did not own — subject to algorithm changes, listing fees, and no real brand presence. They wanted a website that tied it all together: a central hub customers could find, trust, and return to.

Key goals: showcase their live selling show schedule, signpost customers to their selling platforms, and give the business a credible, permanent digital address.

The Challenge

Discount retail has an image problem online. Too many sites in this space look cheap and untrustworthy, which is the last thing a business built on repeat customers and community can afford. The site needed to feel energetic and trustworthy at the same time — bold enough to compete with marketplace aesthetics, polished enough to stand apart from them.

We also needed to surface live eBay listings dynamically — so the site always reflects what is actually in stock — without locking the business into an expensive third-party plugin.

The Approach

We designed a bold green and gold identity — energetic, warm, and unmistakably theirs. A hero image slider leads with atmosphere; diagonal section dividers give the layout momentum. The whole site feels like something is always happening, which is exactly right for a live selling business.

For the eBay integration, we built a custom REST API plugin that pulls live listings directly from the eBay API — no third-party service in the middle, no recurring costs. When the API credentials are plugged in, the shop section updates automatically.

The Build

  • WordPress FSE custom theme — bold green and gold design, diagonal dividers, Bebas Neue headings
  • Hero image slider — three slides, fully responsive with mobile-optimised image handling
  • Custom eBay API plugin — pulls live listings via the eBay REST API; no third-party dependency
  • Platform cards — eBay, Whatnot, Vinted, Facebook, and WhatsApp all linked with branded cards and hover animations
  • Live shows calendar — dedicated section for Whatnot show dates so fans never miss a drop
  • Contact Form 7 for customer enquiries, Yoast SEO for search visibility, CookieYes for GDPR compliance
  • 10 pages including FAQ, Returns, and full legal suite

The Outcome

The Discount Hub now has a professional digital home that works as hard as they do. Customers can find their show schedule, browse selling platforms, and get in touch — all in one place, on a domain the family owns outright.
